Presented by Canada Beef and the provincial cattle associations, Burger It Forward is a national campaign focused on raising money for food banks across Canada. As food prices continue to rise, food banks are struggling to keep up with demand as more and more Canadians rely on them to feed their families.
In an effort to support food security regionally and nationally, Canada Beef has recruited more than 200 restaurants across the country to raise awareness and funds. For the month of February, for every campaign-featured burger purchased, Canada Beef will contribute the equivalent of one meal to Food Banks Canada, up to a maximum of 20,000 meals (based on Food Banks Canada’s meal metric: $1 = two meals).
In addition, provincial beef cattle farmer and rancher organizations and beef partners also contribute to their regional food banks with either ground beef or cash donations. In Saskatchewan, 18 restaurants are participating and the Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s Association (@saskbeef) is donating $500 worth of ground beef to both the Regina Food Bank, and the Saskatooon Food Bank & Learning Centre to support food bank efforts in the region.
