Maple Leaf Foods

Maple Leaf Foods’ vison is to be the most sustainable protein company on earth and in 2016, the Maple Leaf Centre for Food Security was launched with a goal to see food insecurity reduced by 50% in Canada by 2030. The company has donated $125,000 to the Nutrien Plant Possibility capital campaign to support the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre’s new home.

Maple Leaf Foods has been supporting the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre for 20+ years. More recently, the McLeod plant in Saskatoon converted unused land around the plant into a community garden. Half of the garden is managed by volunteers and the produce grown there is donated to the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre.

Maple Leaf Foods became the world’s first carbon neutral food company in 2019 and believes that  businesses play a key role in in creating positive change.

“Maple Leaf Foods has a long history of supporting local communities across the country,” says Sarah Stern, Maple Leaf Foods’ Director of Community Involvement and Executive Director of the Maple Leaf Centre for Food Security. “We are proud to support the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre’s new home to help ensure more people can have  access to healthy nutritious food.”
